On Friday, September 27, the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Texas and the Western District of Arkansas will hold a joint naturalization ceremony on the front steps of the historic Federal Courthouse that sits directly on the state line dividing Arkansas and Texas in Texarkana. This is believed to be the first event of its kind – two naturalization ceremonies conducted by two United States District Courts simultaneously.
The Honorable Robert W. Schroeder III, United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas, and the Honorable Barry A. Bryant, Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Arkansas, will preside over the ceremony. Approximately 60 individuals will take the Oath of Allegiance which will finalize their path to citizenship. The ceremony takes place at 10:30 a.m. and is open to the public.
