New Civil Nature of Suit Code for Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016 Cases   Effective October 1, 2020, a new civil nature of suit (NOS) code was approved for cases brought under the Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016 (DTSA).  NOS code 880, Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016 (DTSA),  will be added to the Civil Cover Sheet (Form JS-44, Revision 10/20) and be available as an option in CM/ECF.   The following jurisdiction codes are valid for NOS code 880 cases: 1 - U.S. Government Plaintiff, 2 - U.S. Government Defendant, 3 - Federal Question, and 4 - Diversity.
